Measurement of Knee-Joint-Position Sense in Women With Genu Recurvatum
نویسنده
چکیده
Context: Proprioception of the knee joint. Objective: To determine the difference in knee-joint-angle reproduction in women with and without genu recurvatum (GR). Design: Between-subjects. Setting: Clinic. Subjects:Twenty-four women divided into 2 groups according to their standing kneeextension angle. Main Outcome Measures: Each subject's ability to actively reproduce active positioning of 3 knee angles (1 0,30, and 60") was measured. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated to determine correlation values for standing GR angle and absolute angular error ( M E ) . A 1 -way repeated-measures MANOVA was computed to evaluate differences in group, angle, limb, and trial. Resu1ts:Standing CR angle correlated significantly to the M E angle at 1 0" (r= .48). The high-recurvaturn group consistently scored worse, with the highest error rate occurring at 10". Conclusion: Individuals with GR might have diminished proprioceptive sense at endrange extension that could potentially lead to knee injury.

The Relationship between Lower Extremity Alignment Characteristics and Anterior Knee Joint Laxity
BACKGROUND: Lower extremity alignment may influence the load distribution at the knee, potentially predisposing the anterior cruciate ligament to greater stress. We examined whether lower extremity alignment predicted the magnitude of anterior knee laxity in men and women. HYPOTHESIS: Greater anterior pelvic angle, hip anteversion, tibiofemoral angle, genu recurvatum, and navicular drop will pr...

We report a case of premature arrest of the proximal tibial apophysis leading to genu recurvatum deformity following below knee amputation for congenital tibial pseudarthrosis. In the literature there are reported cases of genu recurvatum following early growth arrest at the proximal tibial apophysis, these typically followed fracture, skeletal traction or surgery and we believe this to be the ...
متن کاملAnterior Opening Wedge Osteotomy of the Proximal Tibia for Genu Recurvatum Caused by Partial Proximal Tibial Epiphyseal Arrest
For genu recurvatum deformity after tibial fracture, precise correction osteotomy is necessary to acquire a good clinical outcome. No report on genu recurvatum has evaluated precise preoperative planning with image-processing software for three-dimensional (3D) design and modeling. We herein report a case of osseous genu recurvatum treated by anterior opening wedge osteotomy according to precis...
متن کاملGenu Recurvatum Deformity in a Child due to Salter Harris Type V Fracture of the Proximal Tibial Physis Treated with High Tibial Dome Osteotomy
Salter-Harris type V fracture is a very rare injury in the immature skeleton. In most cases, it remains undiagnosed and untreated. We report a case of genu recurvatum deformity in a 15-year-old boy caused by a Salter-Harris type V fracture of the proximal tibial physis. The initial X-ray did not reveal fracture. One year after injury, genu recurvatum deformity was detected associated with signi...
